The have a very low volatility, and are little exposed to STYSTEMATIC RISK. At one time public utilities used to offer such shares. But now, except for a few mutual funds, notably The Unit Trust of India, widows and orphans do no seem to have much choice left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Window Dressing <\/strong><br \/>\nApart from the practices referred to in COOKING THE BOOK, this exercise is resorted to by mutual funds and portfolio managers before the half \u2013 yearly or yearly account closing when they switch from low \u2013 yield shares to high \u2013 yield ones, so that the funds\u2019 net asset value (NAV) may appear impressive. If the market is moving up, the fund manager will try to put as much money into it as he can, while if the market is moving down he will sell some shares and put the money in interest \u2013 paying securities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wire House <\/strong><br \/>\nA brokerage firm which has fast communication links with its branches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working Control <\/strong><br \/>\nControl of a company by a shareholder or a group of shareholders who own less than 51% of voting shares.
