Waiting Period
Compulsory gap in time between the filing of papers for registration of a share issue and the public offering of the issue. It is a cooling – off period in which the promoters wish they can, put in additional information on the issue or nay corrections they may wish to make to the application.
Wallflower Stocks
Shares which have fallen out of favour with investors. Such shares are not much traded and tend to have a low P/E ratio.

Weak Market
A market in which there are more sellers than buyers, resulting in a decline in prices of shares .
Weighted Average
Arithmetic means that takes into account the importance of each item making an average. A stock market index uses the latter average, except that the market price of each of the scrips constituting the index is multiplied by the number of outstanding shares, and the weighted average arrived at.
Weighted Ballot
In the event of an oversubscription of a new issue a ballot is held in which the number of shares allotted is based on the number applications . If the basis of allotment is biased towards either the small investor or the larger investor, it is called a weighted ballot.
