Memorandum of Association

The memorandum of association of a company, often simply called the memorandum  is the document that governs the relationship between the company and the outside INDIA.
A memorandum of association is required to state the name of the company, the type of company (such as public limited company or private company limited by shares), the objectives of the company, its authorised share capital, and the subscribers (the original shareholders of the company). A company may alter particular parts of its memorandum at any time by a special resolution of its shareholders, provided that the amendment complies with company law.
For public limited companies (whose shares constitute the substance of the stock market) at least seven  persons must subscribe to a memorandum of association for registration as a company. . The declarations are unalterable, except with the permission of the Company law Board.

Merchant Bank

merchant banks, are distinguished from commercial banks which deal with the general public, have been concerned with import and export trade. These banks also float new debentures and shares on behalf of companies, or underwrite them. They are increasingly involved in takeover bids and mergers, often tendering specialized advice to the bidders.

Merger

The combining of two or more companies, generally by offering the stockholders of one company securities in the acquiring company in exchange for the surrender of their stocks.
Basically, when two companies become one. This decision is usually mutual between both firms.  The shareholders of merged companies are offered equivalent holdings in the new company, and old employees are generally retained.

Microeconomic Analysis

Study of individual economic units, such as companies, industries and households. Such analyses investigate the allocation of scarce economic resources between alternative economic ends, and seek to determine how the resources can be most efficiently deployed.

Minimum Lending Rate

The rate of interest charged by the central bank of a country to discount approved bills of exchange or make short – term loans. It is the rate which determines the domestic interest rates charged by banks.

Minority Interest

Where individual shareholders have less than 50% shares in a company, they have a minority interest. If a holding company has more than 50% shares, it will dictate the company’s policy, as the minority interest can always be overruled.

Momentum Indicator

A technical analysis tool which utilises price and volume data to predict the strength or weakness of a current market and note turning points within the market.

Money at Call and Short Notice

money at call is a loan that is repayable on demand, and money at short notice is repayable within 14 days of serving a notice.
